Borrowing Approval - Best Practice and Mandatory Requirements
Course Tutor: Shafi Khan, Executive Officer, MHCLG
Course outline: This session is a must for parish and town councils interested in borrowing capital monies to fund infrastructure and capital projects. It will be delivered by Shafi Khan, executive officer at MHCLG and policy lead on assessing local council loan applications for capital projects and getting them approved. Mr Khan recently came third runner-up of the MHCLG People Awards 2017 for exhibiting unwavering commitment to transforming MHCLG's parish borrowing process.
Amongst other things the session will cover the following:
- What is parish and town council borrowing?
- The borrowing approval process
- How to put together a borrowing application correctly
- Q&A session on general issues (not specific to individual applications).
Delegates attending this course can also request a 15 minute appointment with Mr Khan for a 1-1 discussion on individual potential applications and projects.
