Earl Shilton Town Council - Assistant Clerk

Part Time (16 hours per week)

Permanent Appointment

Earl Shilton Town Council are looking to appoint an Assistant Clerk preferably with the relevant office skills: (a proven competent MS Office suite software user), and experience to work a part time 16 hour week spread over 5 days to join Council's indoor Office team of three.

A primary part of your role is support to the Events Committee for the public outdoor Town Council events season which usually runs from June to November each calendar year. You will be expected to work hands-on at these outdoor events and be a note taker for the Events Committee meetings on average one evening a month for an hour or less in the early evening upstairs in the Public Library. You will be required to liaise and give guidance regarding public events requirements directly with the Head of Groundcare and or the two other groundcare operatives.

The remainder of your working time is a public facing role requiring the selected candidate to work to the public and 'signpost' them to the correct level of Council services they need which may be from Town, Borough or County Councils. You will support the full time Town Clerk and Deputy Clerk for routine office duties of typing, copying, filing and stationery management. Candidates must have the energy and enthusiasm to consistently work with or for the public, with councillors and the other 2 tiers of local government and associated agencies. No task will be beneath you or above you with little room for delegation. Character is as key as qualifications for this role. The right person will receive training support to enjoy this varied role.

PRO RATA (16/37) Salary range at NJC rates of is to start on Scale Point 6 £21,698 pa/£11.42 per hour and up to, by annual performance, Scale Point 10 £23,620/£12.28 per hour.

Charley Parish Council is one of the smallest Parish councils situated in Northwest Leicestershire. This is a rural Parish council with 178 electorates. Charley Parish Council has 5 seats with 4 currently filled. Charley Parish is a small Parish but very active and involved in the community. Recently the council has seen new members join and a new Chair to the council since May 2022.

Charley Parish Council is looking to appoint a part time (6 hours per week) permanent Clerk to join the council as soon as possible. Flexible working will be offered, overtime will be needed on occasion to cover busy times of year, overtime will be paid when necessary.
