Change to External Auditor

The contract for External Audit for our area for the financial years 2022/23 to 2026/27 has been awarded to Moore UK, a change from pkf Littlejohn who have carried out this task for the last few years.

More details regarding any impact this will have on town and parish councils will be shared in due course.

Clerks and Council Staff Pay Award - Update

We're now able to let you know that the three bigger unions met on 1st November and have agreed to accept the National Employers' pay offer.

Results of consultations within each union:

GMB Accept 67%, reject 33%

Unite Accept 22%, reject 78%

Unison Accept 65% reject 35%

The trade union ballots on local government pay have now closed. UNISON, the largest of the three main unions has already accepted the pay offer. LRALC advice on additional bank holiday for council staff

We're getting a lot of enquiries from Councils and County Associations regarding the extra Bank Holiday and how to accommodate it when calculating holiday entitlement and pay for staff on NJC contracts.

Conflicting advice from NALC & Richard Harwood KC on meeting dates

At a meeting this morning NALC Legal outlined the reasons and alleged errors that lead them to strongly disagree with the view issues by Richard Harwood KC.

LRALC has strongly requested that a statement is issued from NALC on this to address the confusion.

In essence, NALC Legal's view on meetings still stands.
