REMINDER - Sub £25,000 turnover councils - annual data sets due
A reminder to all small (sub £25,000 turnover) parish councils that the deadline to publish the annual data sets required by law is rapidly approaching.
The statutory deadline is 1st July each year and the following items must all be published on a website:

Top tip – Election of Chairman and Annual Parish Council Meetings
By the end of this month every Parish Council should have held their Annual Parish Council Meeting, and the Chairman of the Parish Council should have called the Annual Parish Meeting (which must be held by 1st June each year).

Council Tax Levels for 2022-2023 - Average Parish Council Tax £74.94
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has published statistical information about Council Tax levels for 2022/23.
Headline figures for town and parish councils are:
- The average Band D precept charged by a parish council for 2022-23 will be £74.94, an increase of £3.07, or 4.3%, from 2021-22

Use of red diesel by councils
The Hydrocarbon Oil Duties Act 1979 has been amended from 1 April 2022, with Schedule 1 (Excepted Vehicles) being deleted and replaced by Schedule 1A (Excepted Machines), which significantly reduces the entailment to use red diesel (which contains a dye to indicate that fuel duty has not been paid).

NALC publishes the 2022 edition of the Practitioners' Guide
