Update from NALC on pre-election purdah guidance

In advance of the forthcoming local elections, NALC has updated and republished Legal Topic Note L01-19 on the code of recommended practice on local authority publicity which provides guidance on the pre-election (purdah) period. PKF Littlejohn guidance and online training session

We have received confirmation that the recording of PKF Littlejohn's training update for 2018/19 is now available on their website here and via YouTube. The slides, including speaker notes, are also available on the website.

Pension re-enrolment duties for local councils

A reminder that all parish and town councils have "re-enrolment" duties which must be carried out three years after the council's automatic enrolment staging date. The council's duties will vary depending on whether or not the council has staff to re-enrol. The council's duties include re- enrolling any opted out employees into a qualifying scheme every three years from the opt-out date.

Increase of automatic enrolment contributions

A reminder that the minimum contributions payable into automatic enrolment workplace pension schemes will increase from 6 April 2019. This applies to all employers with staff in a pension scheme for automatic enrolment.

PKF Littlejohn guidance on external audit for 2019

We have received confirmation from PKF Littlejohn that they will not be able to provide any training sessions at county level this spring due to the extent of the geographical area that they now cover.
