Government to Ban Public Gatherings of More Than 6 People

The Government has just this evening announced the introduction of a ban of gatherings above 6 people with some limited exceptions. See the BBC News item on the announcement here.

Although at this stage there is uncertainty about whether this ban will apply to parish and town council meetings, LRALC's advice is that ALL parish and town councils should put any plans to return to physical meetings on hold whilst this new limit is in place as the legislation is in place to avoid the need to gather in person.

LRALC will also be considering the full guidance once it is issued so that we can give advice to our member councils on the impact this will have on their other activities, e.g. use of council premises by community groups.
