FREE Local Government Reorganisation Briefing by NALC - WATCH HERE

As you will know if you have been involved with the sector locally for some time, LRALC is very much a pro-active organisation, and we don't just passively sit and wait for things to happen before responding to them. Our job is to work with councils, clerks, SLCC, and other stakeholders to ensure we can provide the latest information to those who need it, and advice where needed.

Last year we arranged for NALC to run a free webinar for LRALC/NALC members on the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act. This time it is something FAR more radical - the government's reorganisation of local government.

As such today we invited and hosted a NALC briefing on Local Government Reorganisation, and recorded the session for you to watch at leisure. Make no mistake, this is the biggest reorganisation to hit us in nearly 50 years, and it IS going to happen. Multiple proposals have gone forward, and we will of course be analysing the impact of each of these and providing regular updates via a dedicated LGR page.

The impact of the different proposals vary in severity, for example as well as the creation of new town councils in Loughborough, etc., we could also see the abolishing of councils that sit right on the edge of the city, like Glenfield PC, if the city's plan to grow goes forward.

Please do not share these details with councils who have not contributed towards their production, i.e. non-member councils. Have a voice through NALC/CALCs is essential at times like this, and those councils who choose for whatever reason not to be members will have to navigate these waters on their own.
