Ledbury and improving behaviours in the sector

NALC Legal has produced a briefing on the Ledbury judgment (https://www.nalc.gov.uk/library/members-library/briefings/legal-proceedings-1/2708-l08-18-judicial-review-claim-brought-against-ledbury-town-council-june-2018/file

NALC are in discussion with the SLCC on a joint initiative to promote good governance and NALC have a working draft which will be discussed with SLCC this week.

Appointment of Training and Advice Manager

LRALC has appointed Frances Webster as its Training and Advice Manager. Frances is CiLCA qualified and has a Law degree. Parish Councils and Pension Auto Enrolment - Don't Get Fined!

Here at LRALC we have been alarmed to discover that there are still local councils who believe that pension auto-enrolment does not impact on them as they have no employees for whom they have a duty to auto-enrol (e.g. because employee earnings are too low or because the employee is of pensionable age).

Pension Auto Enrolment - No Staff Eligible for Enrolment?

Parish and Town Council Payroll Service

Following a number of requests from member councils the LRALC Executive Committee considered endorsing a local council payroll provider at its meeting before Christmas.

Revised 2014-16 Local Council Clerk Pay Scales Published

The newly updated (in line with the national settlement agreed last week) pay scales are available to download below.

New Pay Scales published following pay settlement

NALC and SLCC have jointly issued the revised pay scales following the agreed pay increase of 1%. This pay increase is backdated to 1st April 2013. Due to the timing of the issuing of the new pay scales it is likely many councils will not apply the new scales until the August salary payment, which will mean 5 months worth of back-pay will need to be applied.
