Transparency Fund 2017/18 is now live!

NALC has advised that this year's Transparency Fund is now open and have released the relevant form for use when submitting an application to the Fund (see below). Please refer to the guidance notes when completing your application. Completed forms should be returned to the LRALC office in the first instance.

Grant Thornton Annual Return and External Audit 2016-17 Briefing

Last week at the LRALC External Audit briefing Grant Thornton announced that the Annual Return and associated information will be sent out later than usual this year (end of March/early April) due to responsibility for issuing the Annual Return nationally shifting to SAAA (Smaller Authorities' Audit Appointments Limited).

Practitioners' Guide 2016 - complete guide now available

On 28 June 2016 JPAG approved Section 5 of 'Governance and Accountability for Smaller Authorities in England - Practitioners' Guide 2016' for publication. Section 5 contains supporting information and practical examples, supplementing (but not forming part of) the 'proper practices' set out in Sections 1 and 2.

Only one week until smaller councils must publish their annual data - act now!

All local councils with a turnover of £25k or less are now only a week away from the deadline for publishing their annual data for 2015-16 on a public website.

The following must be published by 1st July:

  • All items of income and expenditure above £100.
