Syston TC - Deputy Town Manager vacancy

We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Town Manager to join our aspirational Town Council to manage and maintain the highest standards of facilities and customer services. This role requires an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to provide full support to the Town Manager as well as our portfolio of buildings, parks, cemeteries and allotments.

Fleckney PC - Grounds Maintenance Operative vacancy

We are currently looking to employ a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team at Fleckney Parish Council!

The grounds maintenance operative assists with a wide range of tasks around the Parish Council sites at Leicester Road Recreation Ground, the woodland spinney, Lodge Road and around the village. Key tasks include strimming, mowing and cutting of grass, hedges and trees across the sites, painting and upkeep of play equipment and maintenance of the artificial football pitch surface. Other seasonal jobs include clearing leaves and ensuring pavements are safe during cold weather.

The grounds maintenance operative also has an important role in the running of Fleckney Sports Centre. This will include health and safety checks such as emergency lighting, shower disinfecting and general repair jobs, for example basic plumbing and electrical tasks. Other tasks may include painting and outdoor work such as clearing guttering.

The vacancy will be based on 10 hours per week.

Higham on the Hill PC - Clerk vacancy

Higham on the Hill Parish Council has a vacancy for Parish Clerk / Responsible Financial Officer. 5 hours per week (days/times flexible when required) Salary: NJC salary scale 7 - 12 (£12.63-13.73) per hour) (based on 23/24 scale) depending on experience. (20 hours per month)

Higham on the Hill Parish Council is a well-established Council in Leicestershire, actively involved in providing a positive service to our Parish and local community. We are looking for a Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer to support the efficient running of the Parish Council.

The ideal candidate will be someone who:

  • has excellent people skills, including the ability to work with Councillors, members of the public and a range of other public and community bodies
  • is proficient with the use of e-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • is, well-organised in keeping accurate records and able to keep these to deadlines
  • will be able to deal with the day to day management of the Parish Council including updating the website
  • Maintain accounts and financial records and preparing accounts for annual audit
  • is able to recognise funding opportunities that could support the Council and the local community
  • can, with any necessary training and support, ensure the smooth running of the Parish Council and its working practices
  • will undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time and which may involve additional evening or daytime meetings

The job may be carried out from home and will also include scheduling/minute taking etc at regular Parish Council meetings.

It will be desirable that the successful candidate is able to work towards obtaining CiLCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) if it is felt to be necessary in the future and once they have completed an initial three-month period.

Smeeton Westerby PC - Clerk vacancy

Smeeton Westerby Parish Council is seeking to recruit a Clerk, starting in January. With a small population, the council meets in the local village hall five times a year. The Clerk will be the Proper and Responsible Financial Officer, managing all associated duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative tasks and manage council communications.
  • Maintain financial records and oversee budgeting and accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and assist in meeting preparation.

Qualifications:

  • Strong administrative and IT skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Previous parish council experience is preferred.
